The Board of Trustees, upon recommendation by the President of the College and/or the MTCC Foundation, may elect to memorialize individuals, groups, or entities, through the naming of campus buildings, rooms, spaces, special recognitions, or exhibits. This Policy provides overall guidance for such designations. The President of the College is authorized to develop and maintain procedures to implement this Policy.

Rationale for Naming Designations

1. Naming of buildings, equipment or other facilities is a means of recognizing substantive financial contributions to the College.
2. A notable contribution of service and leadership that has had a significant positive impact on the institution over an extended period of years.

Permanency of Names

1. Naming rights shall be for the life of the facility, room, space, or exhibit. a. Demolition or major renovation shall terminate the designation unless otherwise designated by the Board of Trustees. b. In the case of renovation, the original benefactor, when practical, may be given the opportunity to offer an appropriate gift to the college for the purpose of sustaining the name designation, prior to the consideration by the Board of naming gifts from other benefactors.
2. For gifts from a corporation, trade or professional organization, the Board of Trustees may elect to make a naming designation for a specified length of time, subject to conditions agreed upon between the benefactor and the college. In such case, the designation shall automatically terminate upon the end of the agreed period or upon breach of the agreement by the benefactor.
3. The Board may elect to remove a naming designation, as its sole and final judgement, in the event of, a. A legal, moral, ethical impropriety on the part of the benefactor or its successors that brings public disgrace to the college. b. The dissolution of the benefactor corporate, trade, or professional organization that renders the named designation moot or inappropriate, or, c. The verified request of the benefactor.
