Â鶹ÊÓƵ (MTCC) recruits and employs qualified part- and full- time faculty in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and goals of the College. MTCC gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree necessary to teach in a discipline. MTCC also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including undergraduate and graduate degrees, professional licensure and certification, related work experiences in the field, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and course learning outcomes and that are consistent with the mission, vision, values, and goals of the College. MTCC justifies and documents the qualifications of all part- and full-time faculty in every program of study, regardless of the location or mode of delivery of the course offering.

MTCC has adopted the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) guidelines for faculty credentials. The following SACSCOC guidelines specifically apply:

a. Faculty teaching general education courses at the undergraduate level: doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).

b. Faculty teaching associate degree courses designed for transfer to a baccalaureate degree: doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).

c. Faculty teaching associate degree courses not designed for transfer to the baccalaureate degree: bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline, or associate’s degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.

Additionally, MTCC will hire part- and full-time faculty who meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications for certificate and developmental courses:

a. Faculty teaching certificate courses not included in an associate degree must have a certificate of completion and significant demonstrated work experience.

b. Faculty teaching certificate courses included in an associate degree must have an associate’s degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.

c. Faculty teaching developmental courses must have a bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline with appropriate classroom experience in the discipline or graduate semester hours in education.
