Instructional hours include scheduled class and laboratory sessions as well as examination sessions. In this context, an hour is defined as 60 minutes. For example, the standard 3 credit lecture class meets twice a week for 90 minutes per session on a Monday, Wednesday, or Tuesday, Thursday sequence for 16 weeks. Hence, the class meets for a total of at least 48 contact hours for a semester. Online, hybrid, and individual instruction classes should make adjustments so that the total number of hours of work required by students is equivalent to that of a traditional face-to-face class.
