Policy

As a regionally accredited institution of higher education, the College is responsible for compliance with the substantive change requirements of the U.S. Department of Education as outlined in 34 C.F.R. § 602.22. Regional accrediting bodies, such as SACSCOC, are tasked with ensuring institutional compliance with these federal requirements. The SACSCOC Substantive Change Policy outlines institutional responsibilities related to the reporting of substantive change.

  1. Member institutions are required to notify the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission Colleges (SACSCOC) of changes in accordance with the substantive change policy, and when required, seek approval prior to the initiation of changes.
  2. Failure to properly report substantive change could result in sanctions or loss of accreditation.
