The Board of Trustees is committed to supporting high quality educational programs and services to students and citizens of McDowell and surrounding counties through MTCC. The Board and Administration expects employees to be competent and to continue developing professionally in their field of specialty. The administration is responsible for providing a variety of professional development opportunities to accommodate professional growth needs represented within the college staff.

The following priorities guide the purpose for which professional development activities are planned and supported:

1. To promote and encourage continuous employee growth in job related skills and productivity.
2. To promote overall staff commitment to institutional excellence and effectiveness.
3. To satisfy requirements of accrediting agencies, occupational credential requirements, and to continue improvement of the college’s image.
4. To promote personal growth in such areas as interpersonal skills and community relations.
