The Health Science: Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services/Nurse Aide program is your gateway to a rewarding career in healthcare. Designed to provide a strong foundation for success, this program combines general education with specialized training to prepare you for entry-level roles or further study in nursing and allied health fields.

What You’ll Learn

Students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality care under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals. Coursework includes:

  • Personal Care & Vital Signs: Learn to perform essential nursing tasks, including patient hygiene and monitoring vital signs.
  • Growth & Development: Understand the physical, emotional, and social changes individuals experience across the lifespan.
  • Nutrition & Medical Asepsis: Explore the principles of proper nutrition and techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Therapeutic Activities & Safety: Support patient well-being while ensuring accident and fire safety.
  • Communication & Family Resources: Build effective communication skills and learn to support families through care and resource management.

Career Opportunities

Graduates are prepared for entry-level healthcare positions and may qualify for certification as a Nurse Aide I. Career opportunities include:

  • Nurse Aide in hospitals or long-term care facilities
  • 鶹Ƶ Health Aide
  • Caregiver in assisted living or rehabilitation centers

This program also provides the foundational knowledge needed to pursue advanced degrees or certifications in health sciences.

This curriculum is designed to prepare students for careers in the Health Sciences.

Students will complete general education courses that provide a foundation for success in nursing and allied health curricula. Students may select a career pathway that will prepare them for an entry level position in health care. Courses may also provide foundational knowledge needed in the pursuit of advanced health science degrees or programs.

Graduates should qualify for an entry-level job associated with the program major such as Nurse Aide.

Nurse Aide: The Nurse Aide curriculum prepares individuals to work under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals in performing nursing care and services for persons of all ages. Topics include growth and development, personal care, vital signs, communication, nutrition, medical asepsis, therapeutic activities, accident and fire safety, household environment and equipment management, family resources and services, and employment skills. Upon completion, the student may be eligible for listing as a Nurse Aide I and other selected Nurse Aide registries as determined by the local program of study.
